Here comes the time again for people to flood Cebu City's streets with the colorful costumes of the dancers, photographers taking their best shot either for fun or for proving their worth. There are also people who go there just to have a good time and enjoy the view of the streets.
In case you have NO IDEA what the festival's about, here are quick info:
- The Sinulog Festival is an annual celebration held in the heart of Cebu City, known as the Queen City of the South.
- The festival is in honor of the child Jesus, Sr. Sto. Niño and shows the Cebuano's Islamic and pagan origins and its acceptance of Roman Catholicism.
- It is held every third Sunday of January. (in 2011, it's on the 16th)
- A loyal devotee usually attends the Novena Masses that happens 10 days before the Mardi Gras. (in 2011, it started last Jan. 6)
- It is one of the busiest times of the city as everyone prepares for this great event in which about 8 million+ people attended last year. (corrected, see link HERE)
