SUMMER post #17: BORACAY Series (The Departure from Cebu)

/* The next few posts will be about my trip with family to Boracay. It was a really fun time and SUPER bonding with the whole family. Hope you'd enjoy reading. ^_^ */

April 24, 2010.

1:30 AM. Yes, I remember it very well. Last time I checked, it was around 10pm when I slept peacefully.. Whew! I was that excited. I even stalled time by using my laptop and playing Plants vs. Zombies. Then, I looked at the clock and it was almost 3. I had to wake my uncle up because he's sleeping in my room. When I went outside my room, I also noticed that my other uncle was awake and my dad was sleeping on the sofa bed. (not surprised at all..) Then, everyone started waking up because our flight to Caticlan is at 5:40AM. It's been a long time since I rode a plane though. Last time I checked, I rode a plane seven years ago to the US. Anyway, I couldn't wait for the fun to begin so I prepared early last night. We all rode a van and went straight to the airport. We were all excited for this day to come. Even when the plane started leaving, we couldn't wait!

I hoped that this trip would go very well. ^_^

SUMMER post #16: The Scorching SUNday...

/* This happened on April 18, 2010. */

Another seemingly normal Sunday is starting. (for me, weekends are never normal.) I was reminded though that S is going to SM with her friends. It was a good thing because I usually roam around the mall and look for INTERESTING stuff.

As usual, drank my favorite Mocha Frappucino from Starbucks. Then, I kept texting S to where they are. She wouldn't want me to find her so I used the old "TREAT" trick. Apparently, that worked! She got tired of hiding and so she texted me where they were. Then, alas! We met. Thanks to M, I became friends with S. (Although M wasn't there.)

Everything else was just the same though, but I liked it because it was fun bonding with my dad once in a while. I almost never see him for dinner so it's good that we do it. ^^

Oh well, that's all I can say. :)

LATER. :D

SUMMER post #15: Tidal Waves of Saturday. :D

/* Sorry for the SUPER late update. The following events happened on April 17, 2010. */

SO grabe this day. It had to happen so fast that I can't believe it's done. Even though I did a few things today, it was worth it. :D

In the morning, I played a USUAL game of Tong-its with my grandma and uncle. Laughter and smiles filled the house as we played the whole game with fun. :) Since Kevin and I agreed that he'd go to my house and we'd go together to IT Park for the seminar, I had to take a bath, thus the game was at a stand still. After I took a bath and ate lunch, he arrives. I was still playing cards though so he had to wait a bit. Then, we left and went on our way to IT Park.

Suddenly, we saw my dad's van when we were walking to ride a 17B jeepney! Whew! It was smooth sailing heading there. Before it began, we went to McDonald's and ate Hot Fudge Sundaes. Then we saw Mary Ann while waiting for Techbar to open.

After a few minutes, it opened we were going inside. The seminar was a student boot camp that would last for 8-10 saturdays. Today's seminar was about UNIX and how to use it. I had the feeling of a SUPER nosebleed 'cause I couldn't understand almost anything they were talking about. I was just listening to the co-participants about it. Apparently, I was given an Ubuntu CD. (but didn't work, so I downloaded the 64-bit version)

After all that, Kevin, Mary Ann, and I went to KFC and was supposedly at peace when the rest of the peeps went there to eat too! We had fun talking about random stuff. Then, I rode a jeep home with Kevin, Brian, and Lem. Lem's so smart that he answered the riddle that Brian asked everyone...

Lastly, I went to a graduation celebration dinner of my cousin who just graduated from college. Apparently her cousins (from the mother's side) also enjoy vanity. It's not a shock though. :)

Well, that's it...

/* Gotta sleep, will catch up on posts tomorrow. :) */

REVIEW on Plants Vs. Zombies (PC)

/* Sorry if it took a while for this post to come out because I had A LOT of sidetracks... literally... */

A game that lasted in my computer for over a year, and still I'm playing it. Plants Vs. Zombies is a VERY VERY addiciting game. I really love this game a lot simply because it tests your strategic skills while having a goofy mechanic of the plants and zombies.

There are 4 ways to enjoy this game: Adventure, Mini-games, Puzzle, and Survival. Let me explain each in detail:

Adventure: This is the main mode where the game takes you to 5 different levels: Backyard (Day), Backyard (Night), Pool (Day), Pool (Night), and the Roof. Each one makes you adjust your strategy on how to defend yourself from the hordes of zombies.

Mini-games: This is where you can find all the mini-games. Some are from Adventure mode, others are based on PopCap games like Insaniquarium and Bejeweled.

Puzzle: There are two dominant puzzle modes: I, Zombie and Vasebreaker. Each has 9 puzzles and an Endless mode.

Survival: Has 11 modes; a normal and hard mode for each Adventure level, and an Endless mode.

The extra features include:
Zen Garden - A garden where all your plants, which you get from all modes except Puzzle, are placed. You earn money by putting fertilizer, bug spray, and playing music. You have chocolate for your snail.

Crazy Dave's Twiddydinkies - Basically, a shop where you can buy upgraded plants and garden items.

ALL IN ALL, I think this game is SUPER nice... I never got bored no matter how many times I played it..

/* END of REVIEW */

WOO! I FINALLY finished it. Summer's about to end... but I'm excited for school now! The schedule looks bad but it's gonna be okay. :) LATER. ^^

SUMMER post #14: Fun in the SUNday. :)

/* 13 days to B! :) can't wait!!!! */

Again, spending time with the family NEVER gets old. I was so happy when we enjoyed our Sunday together. Sadly though, my aunt, uncle and cousin went home already. (their ship should have left the pier by now) We made our last moments together in SM. We did the usual (hanging out at Starbucks) and the unusual (feeding frenzy with hotdogs... YUM!) things there. It was SUPER fun, but a sad thing though is that I couldn't convince my parents to buy me that new favorite phone of mine, the Nokia X6. I really hope I get it though, I really like that phone... :)

Oh well, this is it for today... LATER. :|

SUMMER post #13: A HAPPY happy Saturday. Ü

It was a good thing that I never hesitated, otherwise I would have gave myself a VERY BORING day. WOOHOO! I was so glad I made the right decision. :)

The day started with me going with my cousin and her parents to USC-Main Campus because she'll take the entrance exam of the said school. It was right for us to start there but the actual test should be taken in Talamban Campus. (which is crappy since it's REALLY far from the Main) So we went there and my aunt asked the security guard to where she should pay for the testing fee. The guard said that we had to go to the bursar, but when we went there the cashier said that she should go to the department for the payment. We went there and she took the entrance exam. While waiting for her to finish, her parents and I were playing Hangman. I almost couldn't hold my laughter because we played the two-player mode and each one has to make the word for the other one to guess. After more than 2 hours, she was done and we headed to Ayala for lunch. I also knew that we would meet with my mom, sis, and grandma.

We arrived in Ayala with an empty stomach since we never ate after breakfast. Shortly after we sat in Shakey's, we already saw my mom, sis and grandma. We ate A LOT of food for lunch. Imagine eating spaghetti and chicken and drinking ice tea at the same time, while waiting for the thin crust pizza. WOAH. I was SUPER full after that. Then, we left Ayala for a while and went to the condominium (i'm jealous... >.<) and we checked out my cousin's unit. It was okay besides they're only two of them there. (still expressing my jealousy..) After that, we went back to Ayala for some shopping and snacktime. My drink in Bo's Coffee Club was SOOO great. I really want to drink it again and compare it with Starbucks' Mocha Frappucino. I also remember that soft Dark Chocolate Glazed Donut. It was REALLY sweet. WHEW! I thought I would drown in sweetness.

All in all, I REALLY HAD FUN WITH MY SATURDAY. WEEE.

GOOD NIGHT, I'm about to sleep now.. :)

Mini-post: Future of BSCSMA?!?!

/* This post is multilingual. Just comment if you need understanding. */

For some reason, wala nako kasabot sa among block. A lot of things have happened sa second sem. Mga nag.uyab, away, complicated stuff. It's a good thing na we still stick together no matter what.

I REALLY MISS YOU GUYS!!!

LAAG TA NINYOOO. :)

SUMMER post #12: Thoughts on the iPhone OS 4.0 Preview

/* First of all, I just read this topic off of Phonedog.com. This site is all about cellphones, cellphones, and related tech stuff to the cellphone industry. Second, this does not contribute to any opposition against Apple. I am just expressing my own take on this. */

I just read an article about the recent Apple press event last April 8. Steve Jobs gave a preview of the iPhone OS 4 and I have to say, even though I don't own one (but considering how my sis and my mom would react), I was really disappointed when I found out that Multitasking will not be in all generations of iPod touch and iPhone out there. (I'm still wondering how angry those iPhone 3G users would be when they heard about this shocking news.) There are seven core functions that they featured in the event: Multitasking, Folders, Unified Inbox, iBooks for iPhone, iAd, Enterprise, and Game Center.

Out of all of them, I only found Multitasking, iBooks, and Game Center to be an actual hit. I think though that Apple's just plugging in the holes that they previously had in the previous versions of the OS. I even thought that they would revamp the OS to make it better. iBooks is Apple's version of e-Books. It's the most popular application (I think) on the iPad and it's just worthy for it to move to the small screen. Game Center MIGHT (and I mean, might) change the playing field if done right. I was a bit disappointed with the Multitasking feature because of its limited compatibility. If I was the head of Apple, I would have considered the vast majority of the market (the iPhone 3G people, who bought it for $99) and made it easier for ALL of them.

Well, I'm not Steve Jobs so I can't change what he already said but they could still change stuff and I hope everyone could benefit from it.

LATER. :)

SERIOUS thoughts #1: rotating BROWNout and 2010 Elections... T_T

/* This starts a series of thoughts where I can't just make fun out of it. The series is called SERIOUS thoughts, so I can't just laugh for fun but SARCASM may do. */

/* This post DOES NOT PROMOTE any candidate for the 2010 Philippine National Elections, it only expresses my opinions about the current events happening that may change the course of this historical event. I don't mean to offend ANY candidates here. All I say here are based on news reports that I see on the television. PLEASE DON'T SUE ME, I DON'T HAVE CASH. */

Sometimes, I get annoyed by this rotating brownout we're experiencing in the country right now due to the lack of resources of energy in the country due to El Niño. I really got pissed a bit due to the fact that this is like a practice run for the 2010 National Elections.

Speaking about the elections, it's nearly 1 month before it will happen and A LOT of things are happening. For example, the two biggest rivals in the quest for presidency, Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III from the Liberal Party (LP) and Sen. Manuel "Manny" Villar from the Nacionalista Party (NP) are always blaming each other's parties for scandals galore! Noynoy has his Hacienda Luisita and his Mental Depression scandals while Manny has his C5 scandal, and rumors that he is the secret candidate of the Arroyos. He even recognized Noynoy's nephew, Baby James (son of Kris Aquino and James Yap) saying "Villar" as an endorsement. I don't know if I believe that either one of these or the other presidentiables can do what they promise.

I can't vote yet, but I hope the Filipino people, especially the first-time voters, would choose a worthy and fitting person to be the next leader of our country. It's VERY critical, especially the fact that we are about to exit from the what could be called one of the WORST times in Philippine politics. I am strongly hoping for CHANGE to really happen.

Sorry about the topic, I'm just utterly BORED. This will be the first and LAST post about politics. Will post something light soon. Until then, guys. :|

SUMMER post #11: ehh? iPad?

I was thinking if I could get an iPad because I think it's nice. I would like to have a giant touch screen in my room.. Ooooooh. I would like that... ANYWAY, wouldn't it be nice if you could get it for free? I want AN iPad! :|

Isn't it odd? I once was an Apple hater, hating EVERY device they release. I really hated the iPod because it's JUST an mp3 player. I don't know how people found it to be unique until it was revolutionized through the iPhone's existence. Now, the most popular iPod is the iPod touch. The iPhone degraded the iPod a bit, thanks to its reduced state as an application. Surprisingly though, the iPod still has innovations like its size (the concrete example would be the iPod shuffle) and new features (iPod nano now has video recording) so it still sells despite the iPhone and maybe even the iPad.

At first, I hated the iPad because people were saying that "it's just a GIANT iPhone". I really thought that was true because when I looked at the shots, it really looks like a giant iPhone. But when I looked at what it can do, I was a bit surprised. I kinda like it after seeing that video.

I just can't say that i love the iPad because I'm waiting for its competitors like the HP Slate and tablets powered by the Nvidia Tegra. I don't know if they can stand up to the competition but I hope it meets my expectations about tablet computing. It may not change my preferences between it and the laptop (laptops can now run Core i7 which is pretty COOL) but it may add to my ever-growing wishlist of tech gadgets that I want to have.

Gotta go, need some ZZZs. Good morning. :)

SUMMER post #10: GRADES galore!! @_@

/* This happened yesterday, April 5, 2010. */

Today started normally because I was just at home using my computer and playing cards with my grandma. (my uncle wasn't here because he had work somewhere) When I was chatting with Kevin, he suddenly told me that he was gonna go to TC and get the grades, so I might as well go with him. I brought my gym bag though; I didn't want to ignore the fact that I NEED to go.

When we arrived in the department though, we heard bad news. UNTIL NOW, our Sosc teacher hasn't given the grades yet. I was SO FURIOUS (deep inside, since being enraged inside an office is really freaky...) that I really have that killer intent for that teacher!!! GRRRR. I cannot believe he has the guts to do that. He has to pay at least P3K for late submission of grades, and that's just for the midterms! He still has to pay his fine for the finals! GAAAH! Why the hell can't he do it? Didn't he say that he would do the things he's supposed to do because of financial issues? WHAT THE HELL... After hearing that, we heard another "bad news" that another teacher didn't submit our grades but we were misunderstood while we saw the grades in the database. To our dismay, there were a few who a got an NC (no credit) which means they have to retake it in order for them to catch up to us.

While Kevin was writing all our grades, I was busy replying messages from Shang about the CS grades not what they're supposed to be. I told her that it wasn't Kevin's fault since it was SECONDHAND NEWS (according to him) and he's not to be blamed. After looking at our blockmates' grades, we were looking at some random peoples' grades. It felt awkward but it was funny after doing it. We were always laughing at a certain someone's grade because he was our neighbor and it REALLY felt WEIRD. I really think our block should take action on this catastrophe and hope that we get our grades as soon as we can. I'm really pissed that our teacher's stupid enough to do it.

Back to the topic, I was so glad though that I don't have a single 2 in my grades. With Sosc, it might get better though. :) I REALLY really hope so. Ü weeeee.

Later guys... I'm heading to the gym... :|

SUMMER post #9: Easter Sunday @SM. ^^

After the observance of Lent, we now celebrate the Easter season starting with Easter Sunday where all those Easter Egg hunts and bunny rabbits roam wild and free. I really like the aura because it's all fluffy and stuff...

BTW, as said in the title, I spent my Easter Sunday at SM (after church, of course) with my family and relatives. I really had a fun time since I was able to have something.

First, we went to Starbucks (my all-time favorite expensive coffee shop), sat down, and relax. We talked about a lot of stuff like politics, tech stuff, etc. Then, my mom and I went to the department store to shop for things needed for our summer trip. Since I couldn't bear to stay inside, I called my dad (using mom's cellphone) and went to where he was. My dad was with my sis and cousin, searching for a protective case for my sis' iPod Touch. Then, we went to a LOT of tech stores searching for a 16GB flash drive but there was none. The last 2 shops we visited were Sony and HP. We kept staring at the prowess of the VAIO laptops in Sony and dad actually bought an external hard drive for me in HP. What a day! If it weren't for that Mocha Frappucino I drank at Starbucks, I would have felt cranky.

Gotta sleep, really tired... Later... ^^

COMMENT post: Iron Man and Tong-Its?!?!?

Seriously, I'm losing creativity here. Even the title's getting BORING... ughhhh.

The reason why I posted is because I REALLY got bored so I watched Iron Man while playing a card game named Tong-its where we always shout and laugh... WOOHOO!

Well, gotta continue playing... See you later. :)

SUMMER post #8: OPERATION Watch Death Note BEGAN again... :|

Woah, I am SERIOUSLY bored. I'm even recycling things I did when it was still semestral break. Jeez, what the heck. Oh well, I'm past halfway so I can't do anything to stop it.

BESIDES, I just noticed that there is only ONE scene in Death Note that is SUPER cheesy and made me laugh. /* I just commented this because it's really stupid. HAHA. */

Well, gotta finish watching while I'm still awake... WOOO!

later... :|

SUMMER post #7: a GOOD Friday morning... ;)

/* We are still observing Holy Week, and so far it's okay here at home but I REALLY want to go out because it's really getting MORE monotonous than ever... Jeez. Here we go... */

All of us had to wake up early because we had to go to church and do the Stations of the Cross (a tradition that has always been done on Good Friday, thus the title) with my relatives. It was really fruitful to do it every year because I feel so blessed with all the blessings God has given me. Then, we went to McDonald's and ate pancakes and French Fries. :)

Nothing to start the day with God and family. :)

Now, what to do for the rest of the day since I posted this just now... Hmm... :|

SUMMER post #6: TETRIS.... O.o

/* Let me remind you that most of my summer posts are created out of PURE BOREDOM. I HAVE ALREADY WARNED YOU. TWICE. */

Well, I don't actually know what to do today, despite it being part of Holy Week, so all I did was watch anime, check my Facebook and play Tetris Friends. It's quite addictive, actually. There are a lot of gameplay modes and the social network provides a longer playability time.

Weeee. Besides that, I made SUPER RANDOM status messages on Facebook that relates to some acronyms like OJ. HAHA. How BORED could I get?

Oh well, gotta go. Have to wake up early. ^^
